Paul G. Neumann
Senior Vice President and General Counsel

As General Counsel of Trinity Health, Paul G. Neumann responsibilities include policy development, health care and hospital law, advocacy, operations, mission work and Canon Law.

Neumann’s impressive credentials include 12 years as General Counsel and Senior Vice President for Legal Services for Catholic Health Initiatives in Denver, Colo. Prior to joining CHI as its initial general counsel, Neumann was a partner in the San Francisco office of the law firm of Weissburg and Aronson, which specialized in health care and hospital law. He also was a partner in the law firm of Foley and Lardner, which merged with Weissburg and Aronson in 1996.

He has practiced in all areas of health, business and corporate law. He has represented hospitals and health systems in business transactions; long-range planning; policy development; analysis of legislative, regulatory, and judicial developments; joint venture planning and implementation; mergers and acquisitions; risk management; and patient care issues. He has served on hospital and medical staff committees, including Institutional Review Boards and bioethics committees of numerous northern California hospitals.


Neumann graduated from the University of Virginia Law School and was admitted to practice law in California in 1987. He received the Taylor-Taswell Scholarship to attend law school and was awarded the Dillard Teaching Fellowship after his first year. He received a bachelor’s degree from Haverford College in 1981.
